Free Places to visit in Curaçao
Everyone loves a freebie: right? I mean what’s not to love about getting things for free? There are many free things to do and places to visit in Curacao. If you are visiting Curacao, here is the list my favourite free places, that will keep you busy and occupied during your stay.
The Flamingos sanctuary gives you an exceptional possibility to see Flamingos in their natural habitat, in a wild and magnificent scenery. The place is absolutely free.
This place is close to the road in Salina Saint Maria, and I went there by car. I have seen flamingos in captivity in many places but have never seen them like that. It is a natural haven for these beautiful birds. There were too many flamingos in one place, such a magnificent view. There are many easy chances when you can take pictures without disturbing them. If you like Flamingos, and want to see them roaming freely. Sint Willibrordus is the place to go.
If you are looking for a splendid point to swim along with sea turtles, then Playa Piskado is the place to go. And it is free. It is also known as ‘Fisherman’s Beach’. The fishermen clean their fish off the pier here to attract the sea turtles in the area.
The water is clean, and there are cliffs all around the beach, which makes it a good point for snorkeling and diving (Samurai < https://www.samuraicuracao.com >). The quality of the sand is also very good. There are many shade trees along with some huts.
For me, it was the best snorkeling spot on the island, Big turtles, large fish swarms, tons of colors. I was amazed. The beach is always open for everyone.
Playa Jeremi is a medium-sized beach and is an ideal spot to be alone. There are no lounge chairs, and beach bars around Playa Jeremi. It’s more of a local beach and is not that popular, so rarely crowded. There are cliffs on either side of the beach, and you can jump into crystal clear water from these cliffs. The beach also is known for being rich with a lot of sea glass.
It is a small strip of sand with lots of beautiful landscapes. And it is an excellent destination to see the astonishing sunset. It is not that good for snorkeling, but you can enjoy swimming. It has no public lighting, so after sunset, it is dark all around. The beach ha no entrance fee and is always open.
Daaibooi beach is near to the village of Sint Willibrordus, a 30 minutes drive to the north-west of Willemstad. This is a public beach, so you don’t have to pay the entrance fee.
Parking is quite spacious, and you can rent chairs at a very reasonable price. The beach is clean and well maintained. There is also a snack bar and diving center. The staff is very polite and cheerful. The beach is also surrounded by beautiful cliffs. Water is crystal clear and a great spot for swimming. This is highly recommended for those who do not want to get stuck in crowded beaches.
There is an excellent beachside restaurant, ‘Karakter’, and it truly amazing and satisfying. The beach is always open, 24 hours a day. It is one of the leading beach restaurants in Curacao. It came into being in 2006 with an idea of providing quality food and service at the Caribbean beach. It is situated on Simpson Bay Beach on Sint Maarten. It started with a food-bus with a view of the beachfront and grew bigger and better with time. Due to the huge French customer base, the restaurant has been influenced by it and it can be observed from its menu and culture. It also has a feature of daily special deals for its customers. The running water and calmness of the beach make this restaurant a tourist spot, plus shades of palm trees are serene.
